St. Charles School in the News!

St. Charles School Woburn Chosen to create ornaments to accompany the National Christmas Tree in Washington D.C.

Middle School students from St. Charles School were chosen to create one-of-a-kind ornaments for the 2018 National Christmas Tree experience on the Ellipse in President’s Park in Washington, D.C.  These handcrafted ornaments will adorn a special Massachusetts-themed Christmas tree that will join 56 smaller trees that surround the National Christmas Tree. The 56 trees represent each U.S. state, territory and the District of Columbia as part of the America Celebrates display.

Twelve students from grades 6 through 8 worked with art teacher, Abbey Carbone, to create these large globe ornaments.  Each student chose their own iconic Massachusetts image to replicate. Ornament images included: the Bunker Hill Monument, scenes from Cape Cod, the world-famous Fenway Park, and more. The ornaments were recently shipped from Woburn, MA to Washington, D.C. in time for the National Tree lighting that will take place on November 28th. Carbone and her daughter Ava, a St. Charles alumna, will be in attendance, representing the entire St. Charles School Community.
